Matt is dedicated to co-creating visions that speak to the most deeply held parts of your story and yourself at the center. How do you seek to be seen and known, both when you look in the mirror and show up in the world?
Over several years of experience working with art enthusiasts, Matt has attuned curiosity and consideration for co-creating visions that endure for years to come. He has created a breadth of exciting projects such as a family crest and coat of arms, 3D printed dragon's egg and box, triple portrait of personally held goddesses, and much more.
His conviction is that creative ideas are bestowed upon us as humans, and that there is a life within each that urges to exist. He sees the act of creating as doing justice to the vitality of these visionary concepts, which then go on to inspire new creations through being brought into existence, furthering the chain of creative continuity.
Matt strives to make the commission process as simple as possible, first beginning with the client's inspiration - What are you dying to see committed to canvas (or unconventional surfaces)? While discussing the ideas, Matt draws on his lifelong curiosity and investigation into global wisdom traditions, mythical storytelling, philosophy, and universal pattern recognition to weave together a cohesive narrative through painting. He asks in so many ways "What is being communicated through this piece?"
Matt's highest mark of success is when the one commissioning the art is overjoyed with anticipation for the ideas to come into reality, and aims to carry that excitement all the way through the process. Next, Matt creates a sketch capturing the concepts from the discovery conversation. He has found that having a breadth of initial ideas is best, knowing that what is meant to remain will bear out in the final process, and ensures that the client shares this understanding.
Finally, with the client's enthusiastic approval, Matt commits the sketch to the final surface. He prioritizes being as faithful as possible to the agreed upon details of the sketch, while often leaving room for novel, spontaneous details to come through. He has found that these spontaneous and uncannily relevant ideas come with such fluidity that he practically expects them. Pricing and timeline are dependent on the size, complexity, and Matt's workload at a given time.
