Creative Education

Since Matt was very young, he's found that through activities he's most passionate about, he doesn't just want to engage casually but to master them. These are exactly the types of creators that these sessions are designed for - The ones who are there to grow in mastery of their passions.

Matt's teaching is inspired by instructors who have left the most lasting impact: The ones who are both highly proficient, and strongly desire for their students to learn and grow. His philosophy, the M.A.E.S. Methodology encapsulates Mindfulness And Effortless Simplicity.

Our hands are naturally adapted to create the movements used in drawing, and when we're equipped with the right direction, everything else flows. Tools and reference books are not only allowed but encouraged. Even the professionals use both - Why shouldn't you?

These workshops cover both technical skills and ways to hone awareness, including:

  • Hand positions for adaptive line work

  • Shape comparison, analysis and rendering

  • Realistic and stylistic shading

  • Compelling composition

  • Human anatomy

  • Figures in stillness and motion

  • Uncovering and developing personal style

These skills may be applied to numerous avenues such as:

  • Concept art

  • Realistic fine art

  • Graphic novel illustration

  • Muralism

  • Practically anything else you can think of
