What is Immersive Art Meditation?
Immersive Art Meditation (I AM) is a unique experience that blends visual art, mythical and personal storytelling, and powerful guided meditation. Each multisensory session includes:
-A focused deep dive into the symbolic meaning of a mythic art piece.
-Guided meditation and conversation to integrate and apply insights into your unfolding life story.
Join a band of companions and learn timeless tools as aids in navigating your Hero’s Journey–with all of its trials, reconciliations, humbling lessons and hard-won treasures. Understand your past so that you can bring more vision, creativity, intimacy and power into your future. This is a neurodiverse friendly workshop.
Our Story
Immersive Art Meditation is the brainchild of Matt Maes and Helena Karchere, born from their shared passion for the transformational power of storytelling and creativity. We got our start with the first series of events going through Matt's 'The Edge of Myth' series, a spiritual and psychological journey featuring deities from across the world, representing different phases of 'The Hero's Journey', popularized by Joseph Campbell. Matt had expressed a desire to create exciting ways for artists on the same path of storytelling art to present their craft.
The concept of 'Immersive Art Meditation' (I AM) came to Helena who immediately shared the idea with Matt. The excitement of co-creation early in our relationship colored and deepened our shared bond. Everyday conversations would quickly segue into dreaming up this amazing new venture, and soon enough we launched our first cohort going through 7 sessions with a group of devoted regular participants.
Matt tells that one of his favorite aspects of these meditations is seeing people relate to concepts in mythology in ways that apply to their own lives. This demonstrates the relevance of mythic stories as being alive through our real human experiences, something that he is deeply passionate about revealing in audiences everywhere.
We've found that incorporating the love of mythical storytelling, transcending modern life, has brought us into magic, wonder, playfulness and mystery. We seek to pass on that same spirit of aliveness to all who join us on this path of adventure.
