Beyond the canvas, Matt’s work increasingly focuses on creating transformative experiences through art. Through immersive exhibitions, live drawing, mythic meditations, workshops, public speaking, and curated mythic environments, he helps individuals and organizations reconnect with creativity as a living force rather than merely a skill or product. His artwork and experiences have been featured through festivals, galleries, immersive events, and creative collaborations across Denver and beyond, while also extending into illustrated books, wearable art, prints, tapestries, and collector experiences.

Matt is also the founder of the Creative Champion Collective, an evolving initiative dedicated to empowering artists, cultivating sustainable creative lives, and strengthening culture through imagination, storytelling, and meaningful artistic community. Across every medium and project, his work is ultimately driven by a desire to help people rediscover wonder, deepen their relationship with creativity, and engage life itself as a mythic journey.

Matt has been honored to share his story of creative healing and navigating with neurodiversity through publications and features such as Rocky Mountain PBS, Westword, and many more. He happily resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife Helena and son Xavier.

The twin threads of storytelling and creativity have interwoven throughout Matt Maes’ life, guiding an evolving body of work centered on mythology, symbolism, perception, and transformation. A mythic artist, speaker, and creative educator, Matt creates immersive visual experiences designed to awaken imagination, emotional resonance, and a deeper sense of meaning through art. Working across graphite, acrylic paint, airbrush, and digital tools, he brings mythic figures, archetypes, and symbolic worlds to life through a surreal visual language uniquely his own.

Inspired by mythology, psychology, spirituality, and the Hero’s Journey framework popularized by Joseph Campbell, Matt’s work explores how stories shape identity and human experience. His foundational series, The Edge of Myth, examines psychological and spiritual transformation through gods, goddesses, and legendary figures representing stages of the Hero’s Journey and alchemical evolution. This exploration expanded into The Eye-Hacker Saga, an ongoing mythic graphic novel universe investigating perception, symbolism, and consciousness through interconnected visual narratives.
